Why did you choose to pursue this career? What made you certain this was the right path?

Service to country. I’m not sure if it was the right path, but I’ve seen the world and had a lot of fun.

What events, prior employment, or educational experiences led you to your current job?

JROTC in high school introduced me to meritocratic idea and the value of hard work.

What schooling, education, and/or certifications did you complete to prepare you for this career?

BS in civil engineering, pilots license in rotory wing and single engine aircraft.

How did you make the best use of your time in both your education and career?

I’ve worked on 5 different continents, conducted humanitarian operations in five different countries and participated in multiple combat operations.

What advice would you give to a high school or college student interested in pursuing this field of work?

Know what your signing up for, prepare your mind as much as your body.

What opportunities would you suggest high school students participate in?

Work hard. Participate in any competition that gets you to interact with others. The individual is never as strong as an effective team.

What do you wish you had done differently with regards to your career/education?

Continue your education when your young. The longer you are away from higher education, the less likely you are to return for further progression.

What does a typical day at your job look like?

Days vary, most entail how to effectively source requirements for military training and worldwide deployments.

What was a surprising aspect of your job?

How many responsibilities I have with no training or experience to fulfill them.

What qualities are necessary to be successful in your field of work, and why?

Rapidly deal with multiple problem sets in dynamic environments with a multitude of personalities and in many cases different cultures. Lives depend on your decisions.

Do you have any additional advice?

Humility, flexibility, and strong team skills are attributes that should not be under valued.
