Why did you choose to pursue this career? What made you certain this was the right path?

This path was chosen because of a love for math, numbers, and working with money. Had a feeling this was the right choice, loved the job.

What events, prior employment, or educational experiences led you to your current job?

Research to find specialty.

What schooling, education, and/or certifications did you complete to prepare you for this career?

BS in Business Management, NBA in Finance Concentration

How did you make the best use of your time in both your education and career?

Was extremely focused, had a full-time job and family, did not waste time that he didn’t have. Always looked for new trends, read magazines, watched financial news, papers.

What advice would you give to a high school or college student interested in pursuing this field of work?

Study hard, look for new trends, stay on top of your game, always seek new information, get a mentor in field for study.

What opportunities would you suggest high school students participate in?

Read books, read wall street journal, read magazine articles, find what part of finance you want to work in.

What opportunities did you take as a student that helped advance your career (research, internships, etc.)

Seminars from professors.

What do you wish you had done differently with regards to your career/education?

Focused more and finished major earlier.

What does a typical day at your job look like?

7 am, read emails, categorize papers/emails, prioritize, address most important tasks first, attend/schedule meetings, interact with client’s subcontractors, review trend analysis.

What was a surprising aspect of your job?

Not many people can keep track of spending.

What qualities are necessary to be successful in your field of work, and why?

Qualities: focus, attention to detail, continuous learning, challenge yourself. Why: This is what you should try to bring into your job position. It helps one be a better analyst and better asset to client.
